This is an adventure game in which players follow the exploits of the pirate Guybrush Threepwood as he searches for three golden artifacts representing speed, strength, and stamina. The majority of gameplay involves interacting with pirates, exploring islands and rooms, and following the irreverent storyline. In one sequence, the central character comments "nice cans" as he looks at a string of large tin cans and a drawing of a voluptuous woman. In another sequence, a mysterious foe cuts off a man's hand prior to a swordfight. Bottles labeled "grog" are depicted in one scene and mentioned briefly in the dialogue (e.g., "I've taken down some of the most hardened grog-guzzling scumbags"). The expletive "damn" can be heard in dialogue as well.
